An old favorite is back, courtesy of IPEVO. The technology maker and designer has announced plans to re-release its X1-N6 Internet Conference Station. Originally designed as a voice conferencing solution for business, the X1-N6 has re-emerged to address IPEVO's emphasis on education technology, particularly when it comes to online e-learning and remote teaching, lecturing and presenting. The X1-N6 is now available at the IPEVO Online Store at http://www.ipevo.com.
Featuring a distinct X-shape in black, the X1-N6 incorporates a high-quality 16-bit Digital Signal Processor which samples audio at 16KHz. The station also features full duplex technology, meaning that communication can happen in both directions simultaneously. A background noise filter and echo cancellation further enhance both voice transmission and voice reception. The unit is designed to receive and transmit sound in 360 degrees at a range of up to 5 meters (5.4 yards), meaning that the X1-N6 is ideal for even large groups and classrooms.
The X1-N6 is powered via standard USB, and is compatible with both PC and Mac. A wide variety of applications may be used in conjunction with the X1-N6, including but not limited to Skype, iChat, GoToMeeting, and Google Talk and Hangout. Additional features of the unit include one-touch volume and mute controls, a headphone jack for times when privacy is required, and bright LED status indicators for on-call and mute statuses.
"The original X1-N6 filled a need for small businesses in search of inexpensive voice conferencing," said Royce Hong, CEO and big head of design of IPEVO. "The new and improved X1-N6 is still great at that, but it is specifically targeted at teachers, lecturers, and presenters who are engaged in remote online education. With its impressive sound quality and broad 360-degree range, the X1-N6 is an affordable way to transmit and receive audio for a single teacher or an entire classroom of students. More and more teaching is happening remotely, and we wanted to continue to lead the way on addressing emerging ed tech needs for teachers."
IPEVO has also emphasized X1-N6's ability to function as part of a complete voice and video conferencing solution when used with the company's popular USB Document Camera, the Point 2 View. With the Point 2 View, teachers can either use the device as a webcam, or they can capture documents, objects, textbook pages, artwork, etc., and transmit this video in real time through Skype or a similar video conferencing app. At the same time, the X1-N6 can send and transmit voice for an inexpensive yet versatile audio-video conferencing setup for remote learning, webinars, presentations and similar.
The X1-N6 Internet Conference Station is now available at IPEVO's Online Store at http://www.ipevo.com, at a price of $139.
