Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 24, 2013
The startup social network aptly titled “Weed Meet” has opened the website for user participation and beta testing in the United States. The WeedMeet.com network is free and it’s designed to provide marijuana users with a platform to communicate with other users in their local areas or learn about access to services in their communities. Mobile applications for the website are currently in development and will be released in early April 2013. Visit http://www.weedmeet.com
WeedMeet’s founder, Lorell Gray, believes that this is a movement and we consider it a call to action. The marijuana community is limited in their ability to connect with other smokers. Let’s be honest, weed isn’t something you mention on FaceBook or LinkedIn. There remains a social stigma surrounding marijuana usage, even for medicinal purposes. We feel that people should be afforded an opportunity to connect with other marijuana smokers and lessen the isolation that often accompanies its use.
The Weed Meet social network allows users to communicate with local users, share pictures, stories, and participate in discussions surrounding all issues related to marijuana usage. The social network is open for beta testing until the official launch date of 4/20/2013.
There are currently over 12 million marijuana users in the United States annually. The movement to decriminalize personal possession of marijuana has spread to over 18 states. Legal issues remain surrounding the purchasing, growing, and education of marijuana usage.
