Alameda, CA (PRWEB) February 25, 2013
It's never too early to get vehicles prepared for long journeys and the summer heat. Even in February, Alameda Auto Lab Car Repair and Service is already in full force, preparing to service its customers' vehicles and get them ready for the upcoming summer. The Alameda/Oakland full-service auto repair and maintenance facility knows precisely what to do when it comes to keeping cars in excellent condition, and it is offering the following tips for its customers.
1) In order to keep vehicles in top condition, car owners need to have all drive belts checked.
2) Inspect the cooling systems, the coolant strength, all hoses and clamps.
3) Check the pressure system for any leaks.
4) Conduct an oil change and install a new oil filter.
5) Check all vital fluids and test all lights.
6) Lubricate the under carriage front suspension and check the wheel bearings.
"Nowadays, vehicles have what's called a drive belt that drives all accessories, including compressors, power steering pumps, air pumps and the alternator," Robert Ramos of Alameda Auto Lab Car Repair and Service said. "If it fails or breaks, the vehicle will stop and so will the drive belts along with the tensioners for them."
"Tire pressure is very important, too," Ramos said. "Did you know that underinflated tires increase rolling resistance and cause a decrease in fuel economy by 1 to 2 mpg?"
As the company's February fuel savings tip, the auto repair facility recommends ensuring that tires are properly inflated.
