This Spring members of a very busy USCG Station on the Gulf Coast will be studying and testing for a professional commercial captains license administered through SeaSchool.com, a well known and respected, USCG approved maritime school. Already masters of their nautical trade in this elite maritime force, these men and women will undertake a very difficult training syllabus to further learn the navigation sciences, personal survival, emergency, and ship operations. Additional requirements are that each student show proficiency in paper chart plotting, navigation rules of the road, and basic seamanship knowledge. The training and credentials will not only enhance their military careers, it will effectively serve all aspects of the maritime world greatly including both employer and veteran. These service members that choose to continue going to sea as their profession will be very capable to utilize not only all their prior experience and training, they will have the commercial certification and all the opportunity it represents. Steve Johnson, founder of Navteach.com serving as instructor for Sea School, will enable them to achieve that objective to obtain the license and help mentor their success.
