Frisco, TX (PRWEB) February 25, 2013

Corepoint Integration Engine successfully completed testing in 10 Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) profiles at the 2013 North American IHE Connectathon in Chicago.

Corepoint Integration Engine continued to prove its capability to support those profiles that are critical to securely sharing patient health information, both within enterprises and across communities. Meaningful Use embraces the use of IHE profiles for query-based exchange of health data with external organizations.

Now in its 14th year of existence, the IHE Connectathon brings together approximately 500 healthcare IT professionals representing the industry’s leading IT vendors to demonstrate how applications can work together to effectively exchange health data. Participants choose to qualify, or test, for specific IHE Integration Profiles, which provide a data programming framework organizations use to exchange health data.

“It was especially important to participate in the Connectathon event this year because of the inaugural testing of Consolidated CDA,” said Rob Brull, product manager at Corepoint Health. “Consolidated CDA is the new standard for Meaningful Use Stage 2, so we felt that it was extremely important for us to demonstrate to customers that we support this standard to help them become more interoperable.”

Corepoint Integration Engine tested a set of profiles that are commonly utilized for health information exchange (HIE) connectivity. Profiles tested included:

  • ATNA: Defines basic auditing, secure communication, access and authentication controls.
  • CT: Ensures that system clocks and time stamps are synchronized.
  • PDQ: Allows querying for a list of patients based on patient demographic information.
  • PIX: Allows querying for patient identity cross-references between facilities.
  • XDR: Allows point-to-point direct document interchange.
  • XDS.b: Standard for registering and sharing EHR documents between healthcare enterprises.
  • XDS-SD: Defines how to couple legacy formats within a structured HL7 CDA document.
  • XCA: Allows to query and retrieve patient records held across communities.
  • XCPD: Supports the translation of patient identifiers across communities.
  • C-CDA: Document standard required by Meaningful Use Stage 2.

“Connectathon is a collaborative event that demonstrates the progress the health IT industry has made in facilitating interoperability between healthcare providers,” said Jon Mertz, vice president of marketing. “In 2012, there were 322 operating HIEs in the U.S. and a majority of those organizations either currently are, or plan on supporting accountable care organizations and/or patient-centered medical homes―signs that HIE collaboration is helping modernize the healthcare system.”
