The Second Amendment is a fundamental birth-right. Washington can't cherry pick our constitutional rights. - Sen. Paul (R) KY
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) February 23, 2013
In response to President Obama’s twenty-three executive orders on January 16th, gun rights advocates and Tea Party groups around the country assemble today to make their voices heard.
This event taking place on the date 2/23 is no accident. The rifle at the center of the gun control debate since Sandy Hook has been the AR-15, which uses .223 Remington ammunition. Organized by Dustin Stockton, Western Representation PAC, and The Tea Party.net, dayofresistance.com boasts a list of over 100 rallies, nation-wide that are taking place today.
As people begin assembling to assert their right to keep and bear arms, you can almost feel that buzz of revolution, reminiscent of the early 2009 Tea Party days. The “Day of Resistance” as it has been named, even has their own investment-grade silver coin. Minted in partnership with Texas-based Coins for the Cause, https://dayofresistancecoin.com (the website where they are being sold) claims to “encourage those who have lost faith in their government to ‘stack silver’ as a form of resistance against the constant intrusions by their federal government.”
Tens of thousands are expected to gather and there is already talk about follow-up events as GOP leaders in Washington begin to join in and express their assent.
Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky posted a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ehNzygtuvRw yesterday in support of the idea. “Disarming the population [is the] first step toward controlling their lives,” said Paul as he likened the gun grab to historical examples that took place under communism and fascism. “We have a president, not a king,” the senator reiterated, saying he supports the peaceful resistance of politicians “cherry picking” our constitutional rights.
