China has been in our sights for a long time and it has been a race among many in our industry to be the first to enter.

China has for many years been in the sights of western companies as a potential market for their products and services but it has proven difficult for the international insurance industry to enter.
The heavy regulations imposed upon foreign insurance companies has made it an expensive and difficult undertaking; however, NowCompare has announced that it is ready to launch a China version of its expat insurance comparison website in March 2013.
The website, which has become the number provider of expat health insurance in Hong Kong will be the first website of its kind in mainland China and will allow the growing expat community there to compare all the international health insurance companies that are available to them.
Mike Ramsay, Chief Executive of NowCompare, said "Everything is in place for a March launch and the team is ready to go, China has been in our sights for a long time and it has been a race among many in our industry to be the first to enter."
Expats in China wanting to find health insurance currently need to either use a local insurance broker or look overseas for their coverage. The launch of NowCompare will be the first time China expatriates will be able to compare all of the relevant insurance companies online rather than just a select few.
In addition, expats in China will also for the first time be able to receive the same discounts on health insurance that NowCompare customers receive elsewhere.
