New York, NY (PRWEB) February 27, 2013
Philip Matthews of RPM Capital headlined the Ivy Family Office Network New York City Forum with a discussion on “Finding Yield in a ZIRP Environment." The Forum was held on February 21st in New York City, NY.
According to Mr. Matthews, “The developed world is in a de-levering, slow-growth, low interest rate environment with 2 – 2.5% GDP growth in the US and Europe, which the market believes will endure for the next half-decade. A massive increase in public borrowing and expansion of the Fed’s balance sheet has occurred, affecting secular change in the character of the US fixed income market and risk assets globally. “
Moreover, “The 'Off-The-Run' tax-free market – not rated high yield tax-exempt bonds – is currently very attractive, offering significantly enhanced yield (6-7%), transparency, control, and recourse to the assets not offered through the G.O. market. With the aging population, clients need income and traditional solutions are not effective (2% Treasury Bonds).“
Other panel speakers included: Randy Hutton of LibertyView Capital and Ross Smead of Halcyon Loan Management, LLC.
Phil Matthews brings more than thirty years of experience and successful track record in the securities industry. In financial services, his perspective and body of work is extremely unique, as Mr. Matthews was the ninth Partner and twenty-second employee of BlackRock, today the world’s largest investment management firm, with nearly $4 trillion in assets under management. At BlackRock, Mr. Matthews served in numerous Executive Management roles from 1990–2004, including Co-Head of the Pensions and Endowments Group, which developed new business and managed account relationships with the largest public and private pension plans in the US.
From 1985–1990, Mr. Matthews served as Global Head of Product Management for Mortgage and Asset-Backed Securities Divisions for Salomon Brothers in New York, where he was responsible for all marketing, sales management and client relations for the division and managed a sales force of over 150 professionals.
