Following a successful one-year engagement to improve medication use among its Medicare members, managed health care company Coventry Health Care has extended its contract with RxAnte, Inc. for another three years.
Under the terms of the agreement, RxAnte will leverage its patent-pending health care analytics platform to gain new insights into what communications work best to help an individual to take his or her medicines properly. Through this data, Coventry is able to build and implement a tailored communications plan for each member it serves, helping patients get and stay well while reducing readmission rates to hospitals and other health care facilities.
“Members who do not take their medicines properly are at much greater risk for serious health issues. At Coventry, we want to do whatever we can to ensure our members remember to take their medications as directed by their physician, identify any barriers and help overcome them,” said Michael Kavouras, Vice President, Government Programs, Coventry Health Care. “Improving medication adherence is one of the biggest challenges in our industry, and in order to get a new result, we realized that we had to address it in a new way. RxAnte laid out an initial approach that made sense and delivered strong year one results.”
RxAnte’s technology develops customized, data-driven plans to help each client achieve its goals, including the interventions and budget required. The RxAnte system predicts each patient’s likelihood of being adherent to specific medications or classes of medications, then recommends the best possible intervention strategy for each individual patient based on a client’s available interventions. The system learns which interventions work best – and for which patients – and then tracks and measures overall outcomes.
“In an industry that has exploded with innovations over the past several years, RxAnte has demonstrated how a combination of data, analytics and experience improving health care can create value – for health plans and for their members,” commented Josh Benner, President and CEO of RxAnte.
