Change is inevitable, it’s accelerating, and in a business environment, it can be very expensive. According to Change Management Expert Marianne Carlson, leaders can increase the ROI of their change initiatives if they understand the science behind change aversion. She will present a seminar on this topic on March 20, 2013, in Port Orange, Florida.
People resist change for a number of reasons, including the fact that the human brain is hard-wired to resist change. “The neuroscience behind change resistance is fascinating”, says Carlson, “but it’s also a major key to a leader’s success in managing a change project. Leaders who understand the science are far better equipped to combat the effects of change aversion in their workforce.”
Managers and executives generally recognize the importance of creating buy-in for their transformation initiative, but often have difficulty doing so. According to Carlson, understanding the brain science can greatly impact a leader’s ability to influence team members and create valuable and genuine buy-in. “It’s a testament to the adage ‘Know thy enemy’, really”, explains Carlson, author of Winning the Future, her latest book, due out this summer. “When leaders really understand what they’re up against, it informs their processes and improves their results.”
The seminar is scheduled for March 20th at 11:30 am at the Riverside Pavilion in Port Orange, Florida. More information and tickets are available by contacting the Port Orange – South Daytona Chamber of Commerce at 386-761-1601.
