Nearly a third of physicians, clinics and hospitals that got government aid to buy electronic health records systems, are dissatisfied enough with their original selection that they're willing to be switching vendors on their own dime.
Of the nearly seven hundred EHR developers in the marketplace, a handful of companies stand in the spotlight of highest client experience and customer satisfaction honors, according to current users.
" A very diffuse industry is recognizing a shakeout as physicians bought software based on promises and nearly a third are now seriously thinking of switching vendors,"said Black Book managing partner Doug Brown.
Forty market segments of EHR including medical/surgical specialties and health care delivery settings across four functional areas of EHR modules and two support areas are surveyed by Black Book annually.
About one in twenty of all EHR vendors are performing above the 90% satisfaction level in all specialties and settings they sell into according the 2013 Black Book survey participants.
"An elite group of high performance vendors will be gaining considerable marketshare in the next two years while competitor EHRs will have difficulty surviving the customer upheaval as is,"added Brown.
EHR firms faced intense client tests and trials through thousands of implementations, integrations, customizations, meaningful use and interoperability issues and respond with their experience on eighteen Black Book key performance indicators.
