On March 4, Rapid Recovery Solution responds to an article published on CTwatchdog.com on a report by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) that showed nearly 200,000 complaints against commercial debt collection agencies.
According to the CTwatchdog.com article, “2012 marks the first year in which the FTC received more than 2 million complaints overall, and 369,132, or 18 percent, were related to identity theft.” The report showed that debt collection was the second-highest category of complaints with 199,721, or 10 percent of total complaints, the article stated.
The FTC compiled complaints in the Consumer Sentinel Network, a national database they share with “more than 2,000 civil and criminal law enforcement agencies,” the article reported.
The article also noted that the report enables them to single out areas with the most activity. “The report gives national data, as well as a state-by-state accounting of top complaint categories and a listing of the metropolitan areas that generated the most complaints,” the article stated.
John Monderine, CEO of Rapid Recovery Solution, acknowledges the rising number of abuse cases and says, “Owing a debt is a serious issue and companies that accuse you of owing a debt that’s been resolved or doesn’t exist is immoral and unjust.” Monderine continues, “Know your rights and stand up to these companies by taking action against them. If you have a debt, we’ll give you a free quote and answer any of your questions.”
