The first Polonia Open event took place in 2001, and quickly became an annual event due to the immediate success and support it received. The first event was organized by a number of Polish-American athletes, and took place in Sarasota, Florida with 74 tennis players from the US, Poland, Canada, England, and Germany participating, along with a golf tournament that featured 18 participants.

The Polonia Open now includes tennis events in Lake Worth Florida, New York City, and Mount Kisko, New York. The golf tournament became so popular by 2004, with 120 registered golfers, that the tournament directors elected to cap registration at that number, creating a highly desirable and prestigious event that attracts some of the most well known Polish-American and Polish National players and celebrities such as Zbigniew Boniek and Radoslaw Szymanik.

Sponsors of the event include Zywiec, NetroStar, Reprocentrum, The Fountains Country Club, and TGW.com. For inquiries, please contact Tennis Tournament Director Jacek Dabrowski at 847-404-1939 or Pawel Pasior, President of the Polish American Golf Association.
