Austin, TX (PRWEB) March 04, 2013

Continuing its Gateway theme, Austin Technology Council (ATC) today announced a new component: the Gateway to Austin’s Best mobile app. The free Gateway to Austin’s Best mobile app for iPhone and Android will also showcase some of Austin’s coolest technologies as it is built from a collaborative effort of several companies and organizations.

ATC is truly the Gateway to the best and brightest of Austin technology, all year long, and especially for 10 days in March. ATC will be hosting its first Gateway Party, Thursday, March 7, at ACL Live at The Moody Theater. Literally hundreds of tech influencers will be in attendance – executives, investors and inventors - which will be held from 5 to 10 pm. Save your VIT (very important techie) spot fast, at: http://austintechnologycouncil.org/sxsw-2013/

Through the Gateway VIT party and the Gateway app, ATC will showcase the SXSW activities of its members, whether speaking on panels; hosting events, meet ups or office hours; or announcing news. ATC members will also be showcased in several ways at the Gateway party, which will also feature live music by the White Ghost Shivers, LED dancers and executive networking at its best all on the porch at ACL Live at the Moody Theater.

ATC is also pleased today to introduce the Gateway to Austin’s Best app that has been developed in partnership with Circuit of the Americas, MapMyFitness, Tabbedout, the Austin Food Blogger Alliance, Austin Startup Games and RED Method. The Gateway mobile app for iPhone and Android is a guide to the food, tech and entertainment Austinites never miss. The app provides Austin’s best maps, lists, links and picks to help navigate Austin during its largest conference and all year round.

“We will only be successful in Austin as a global competitor if we work collectively to showcase what we all know and love about Austin tech," said ATC President Julie Huls. “We get to experience the best and brightest in Austin everyday-- we have amazing executives; hundreds of available tech jobs; and a cool scene to support a strong workforce. Now, it's time to showcase what we know and love to the rest of the world."

The Gateway to Austin’s Best app is a collaborative development effort among a group of hot and fast-growing technology companies and organizations providing their Austin perspectives:

  •     Austin Startup Games: Austin’s best startup giving event.
  •     Circuit of the Americas: Austin’s best motorsports and entertainment venue.
  •     MapMyFitness: Austin’s best trails, rides, walks, and runs.
  •     RED Method: Austin’s best event app designer.
  •     Tabbedout: Austin’s best places to play and pay with your smartphone.
  •     The Austin Food Blogger Alliance: Austin’s best 2013 City restaurant and BBQ Guides

Those who download and use the Gateway to Austin's Best app will be automatically entered to win two tickets of their choice to any 2013 event at Austin's own Circuit of the Americas. Winners will be announced at the ATC CEO Summit on May 8 in Austin, Texas and be posted on the ATC website.

Another example of the value of the Gateway to Austin’s Best app is its exclusive introduction of the 2013 Austin Food Blogger Alliance (AFBA) Best of the City and the Best of Austin BBQ Guides being introduced in time for SXSW. These guides will launch on the AFBA site March 2 and will include only the very best of Austin’s booming food culture, hand selected by the AFBA. The Gateway to Austin’s Best app will provide interactive versions of both guides with listings, recommendations and mapping with direction support.

The Gateway app is free to all comers but to get an invitation to the March 7 party and additional ATC benefits at SXSW, you must be a member of ATC. ATC is extending a special temporary membership option through March 9. More information can be found at http://austintechnologycouncil.org/sxsw-2013/temporary-memberships/.
