Positron Access Solutions, the world technology leader in enabling high bandwidth over copper pairs (asymmetric/symmetric MIMO-on-DMT technology & best VDSL2 with vectoring performance), announced that Pierre Trudeau has been appointed Chief Strategy Officer. Trudeau, a 30-year professional in the telecom industry, brings his entrepreneurial, business and strategic thinking to Positron Access.
Trudeau was founder and CEO of Colubris Networks, a premier vendor of advanced Wi-Fi solutions to carriers and hotspot operators, acquired by HP. His career spanned development and product management with Videoway and Philips Information Systems and as Director of Advanced Communication Division of Eicon Networks Corporation (now Dialogic Corporation). Trudeau is a board member of Accedian Networks and was recently appointed to the board of Positron Access. Pierre holds a M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Computer Science from Sherbrooke University.
“The ability to provide up to 800 Mbps over copper allows network operators to bring new life to their copper networks as CAPEX budgets are challenged,” said Trudeau. “There is a perfect storm with the growth of Ethernet services from DSLAM backhaul to Ethernet Business Services and Small Cell backhaul. Ethernet over Copper is HOT again due to Positron’s breakthrough new technology. It is an exciting time to be part of this trend. Network operators are rediscovering the value of their copper plant as a very cost effective complement to their use of fiber technology.”
“We are very excited to have Pierre guide our strategies and decisions not only at the board level but in a very active day to day leadership and management role,” says Reginald Weiser, CEO of Positron Access. “We do not consider other bonded copper vendors as competition. We eat into the fiber share of the bandwidth pie.”
Positron delivers over copper all of the bandwidth and reach needed for the next 10 years for small cells, SME business services, DSLAM backhaul and for some large mobile applications. Service providers can instantly and profitably deliver up to 800 Mbps carrier-grade Ethernet in the last mile, instead of incurring the high costs and delays of deploying fiber.
