Ithaca, NY (PRWEB) March 06, 2013
MicroGen Systems, Inc. announced today that three (3) highly respected semiconductor and MEMS industry pioneers and executives have joined the company’s Advisory Board (AB). These individuals include:
All are serial entrepreneurs whom have started successful technical companies from inception, and have strong connections within their respective communities. Each strengthen MicroGen’s AB, which includes Didier Lacroix – semiconductor/MEMS executive, Dr. Junru Wu – MicroGen co-founder and Physics Professor (acoustics and vibration expert) at The University of Vermont, David Hessler – upstate NY investor and serial entrepreneur, and Dr. Agamemnon Crassidis – aerospace and control systems design expert from the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Mechanical Engineering department.
XTRION N.V. Managing Director, and X-FAB Silicon Foundries AG CEO, Rudi De Winter, who is a director on MicroGen’s Board of Directors (BoD), said, “I am extremely pleased to see the strong interest in helping MicroGen achieve success in their target markets.” He added, “MicroGen’s management and technical teams will strongly benefit from these industry pioneers’ breadth of experience through the early to later stages of a start-up.”
“Now with MicroGen moving into volume production at X-FAB, it is time to grow in our first tier target markets on course to a sustainable and profitable business,” commented Dr. Robert Andosca, Co-founder, President and CEO of MicroGen, “Our strong BoD and AB with seasoned semiconductor and MEMS professionals will significantly assist MicroGen to achieve success moving forward.”
About MicroGen Systems, Inc.
MicroGen is bringing to market a suite of products based on its proprietary MEMS-based piezoelectric platform technology at X-FAB Silicon Foundries AG (http://www.xfab.com) production facility located north of Hamburg, Germany. MicroGen’s first product is a small (volume less than 0.05 to 0.50 cm3; smaller than a green pea) wafer-level packaged vibrational energy harvester or micro-power generator (MPG). These low cost, long lifetime (estimated > 20 years) MPG devices that scavenge otherwise wasted ambient vibrational energy will replace or extend the lifetime of batteries in wireless sensor (WS) and other microelectronic applications. MicroGen’s primary target market is the industrial, building and commercial WS markets (e.g. machinery monitoring, lighting control, smart utility metering, and many others), and the secondary is transportation systems (e.g. planes, trains and automobiles, civil infrastructure monitoring, asset tracking).
MicroGen located in Ithaca, NY developed its core piezoelectric platform technology at Cornell University (http://www.cnf.cornell.edu). MicroGen is led by a strong international management team, BoD and AB with significant industry and start-up experience.
