Optixtal, Inc., a Delaware Corporation, announced the introduction of the new motion-sensitive Optixtal(R) GreenPatch(TM) interior lighting control. This breakthrough device senses when people enter or leave rooms and by automatically turning off lights when an area or room is empty can reduce energy use for lighting costs by 30%. The GreenPatch is fully powered by self charging Optixtal SuperXcap capacitors and requires neither battery nor hard wiring. Micro solar cells on the front of the device harvest the energy from sunlight or ambient room lighting to keep the capacitors charged and the device working for up to 50 hr. of dark time.
The self-adhesive GreenPatch control panel is small in size (6.5 cm x 9.5 cm) and, once activated, ready to be pressed onto a suitable wall location. The GreenPatch then updates critical changes in a room/area's occupancy and transmits the information via an electronics interface to a building's automation control center up to a 1/2 mile away where conditions in the room can be continuously monitored and changed to match building energy conservation objectives.
The SuperXcap capacitors that power the GreenPatch control panel are available as stand-alone capacitors whose size and shape flexibility, plus fast and high-power charge capability, make them adaptable to a variety of unique applications. Users can count on 50,000 cycles before change out is required.
