The Institute of Financial Operations has retained consultant Rick Swartwood to assist the membership organization in the continuous improvement of its offerings for professionals in its key areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, information management, and data capture.
Swartwood, whose consultancy is based in Tampa, Fla., is a senior operations and technology professional with more than 15 years of strategy, integration, and implementation experience in financial and technical shared services environments in the aerospace and defense industries.
“We chose Rick because of his diverse experience in many of our core areas of focus of the financial operations ecosystem where we want to drive growth in our development efforts,” says Jo LaBorde, executive director of The Institute. “Our board of directors and our staff have committed to enhancing our educational and editorial offerings in key professional areas that will assist our members in improving their careers. Rick’s expertise will help facilitate the right connections and direction to do that.”
Swartwood possesses a unique mix of functional and technical expertise in SAP and web-based e-commerce, commercial card program management, procure-to-pay, and data capture as well as shared services operations and transformation.
“I’m excited about working with The Institute because of its commitment to excellence and its unwavering focus on its members and partners,” Swartwood said. “The IFO has a long history of success, and my role is to simply build on that success by providing a fresh look at the association’s current offerings in education, conference programming, and editorial content and develop a road map to round out its core offerings to all its constituents. I look forward to the challenge, and I’m excited about the opportunity to be associated with the IFO and work side by side with such a group of true professionals.”
Before joining The Institute, Swartwood worked with WNS Global Services, where he developed the ERP-card market segment and led the launch of Xponential, an SAP-based purchasing card program management solution.
Prior to WNS, he held numerous leadership positions within the Lockheed Martin Corp. He played a prominent role in Lockheed Martin’s cutting-edge SAP procure-to-pay implementation leading the accounts payable and finance team through the four-year process that replaced 45 legacy systems across the company.
Additionally, Swartwood was the leader of Lockheed Martin’s Commercial Card and Travel Services organization, where he had full accountability for the corporation’s commercial card strategy, policy, compliance, process, and technology, as well as travel expense and customer service operations.
