Colleton River Plantation Club is pleased to introduce its new General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, Timothy Bakels. Tim comes to Colleton River from Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, New Jersey, where he served as the General Manager and COO for the past seven years. Prior to his time at Hamilton Farm, he was the General Manager and Vice President for Desert Highlands in Scottsdale, Arizona, also for seven years. Earlier assignments included General Manager and COO of the Marbella Golf and Country Club in San Juan Capistrano, California and General Manger of the Bahia Yacht Club in Corona del Mar, California.
“During the search for Colleton’s new General Manager, we met an impressive number of highly qualified individuals from various backgrounds and locations who were extremely interested in this position. During his visits to our community, Tim effectively engaged the Search Committee, the Board and the management team,” said Rob Norton, President of Colleton River Plantation Club.
Tim brings a wealth of club management experience and professional excellence to Colleton River. He is a current member of the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), and a past president of the Greater Southwest and Southern California Chapters. His professional accolades include: Regional Member National Club Association Council, Excellence in Club Management from McMahon Group, Top Gun in Private Club Management Award from John Sibbald & Associates, CERTIFIED CLUB EXECUTIVE from Club Managers Association of America and the 2012 Jim Singerling Leadership Award from Boardroom Magazine. During his time at Hamilton Farm, Tim led the Club to achieve Platinum Club status for three consecutive terms along with being recognized as NJ PGA Club of the Year in 2012.
