Our programs focus on giving the student the tools they need to build the foundation of a sober life.

Helping addicts overcome their physical dependence on substances is one small part of full recovery.
Addiction treatment takes addicts out of their everyday lives, but, post-treatment, they return to the same homes, family lives, and employment status. Without new information and a better mindset, an addict’s behavior is unlikely to change once they are back in their reality. The life skills courses at Freedom Treatment Center work to overcome the poor behaviors addicts have adopted throughout their cycles of addiction.
"Our programs focus on giving the student the tools they need to build the foundation of a sober life,” said Freedom Center representative Brian Kuehne.
The impact of preparing recovering addicts for life after rehabilitation has been repeatedly underscored by the academic community.
A 2007 research project by Johns Hopkins PhD candidates determined that linking drug treatment and employment services would have a positive effect on relapse rates in the city of Baltimore.
Curbing physical addiction is vital to addiction recovery, but guidance that goes beyond rehab, such as the guidance offered through Freedom Drug Rehab’s new life skills courses, is imperative to long-term recovery.
The life skills that addicts need to successfully reintegrate into society go beyond addressing bad behaviors adopted during addiction, though. An even more essential part of The Freedom Center’s life skills courses aims at addiction triggers.
"Some programs focus only on getting the person to stop using drugs," said Kuehne, "but our programs are focused on rebuilding their life - and treating the root causes of their addiction."
Experts in addiction treatment recognize that addiction goes beyond physical dependence, and that the psychological needs of addicts must be addressed in order for addicts to continue in their recovery once they leave rehab.
That’s why life skills courses at Freedom Drug Rehab emphasize coping skills along with basic life skills. By teaching addicts alternative means of coping with life’s adversity, the center hopes to provide long-term recovery tools that help clients look toward the future with hope and eliminate their reliance on substances.
The Freedom Drug Rehab facility offers one of the most comprehensive programs for addiction treatment and recovery in the country. Situated in a semi-residential southern Michigan area, and surrounded by 10 acres of land, the treatment center offers patients a respite from the world as they overcome their physical dependencies on drugs and alcohol.
