According to an article published by Yahoo News, Google Inc. recently announced it would start urging websites to offer Google Plus login options. In an attempt to counter Facebook’s social sharing dominance, the article says people will soon be able to login to sites and mobile apps using their Google Plus profile information.

Logging in with Google Plus also gives you an advantage when you want to share something. Li says it has more sharing options. “Users are also able to choose what to hide and what to share with friend circles on Google Plus,” Li says. “For instance, if you don’t want your family to see you’ve read a certain article on USA Today, you can opt to exclude the family circle. They won’t see that you’ve shared or read that article.”

Though integration has just begun, the article says Google already secured deals with USA Today, The Guardian, Fitbit and Fancy.

Li says the integration is a smart move by Google. Though it probably won’t encourage more people to make a Google Plus profile, it will help Google track its users better. “After all, Google is all about search,” Li says.

The new Google Plus login could also benefit marketers and developers. “Developers who incorporate Google Plus into their apps will receive up-to-date analytics on how many people are visiting and how many people are engaging with their site,” he says. “Marketers using AdSense will also benefit from this because Google will be able to track consumers more thoroughly, therefore providing better feedback to marketers.”
