San Jose, CA (PRWEB) March 14, 2013

ThreatMetrix™, the fastest-growing provider of integrated cybercrime prevention solutions, today announced that it is co-sponsoring the 7th Annual SINET IT Security Entrepreneurs’ Forum (ITSEF), March 19 – 21, at Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif. In addition to ThreatMetrix, other co-sponsors include DOD, SAIC, Chertoff Group, DLA Piper, and Stanford Computer Forum.

Supported by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of Science and Technology, the ITSEF will educate attendees on advancing innovation, leading change and building trusted global communities of interest and trust between the public and private sectors.

“Online government agencies are in the crosshairs of cybercriminals targeting them with malware and stolen credentials,” said Bert Rankin, CMO, ThreatMetrix. “The only successful way to defeat these threats is for government and private industry to collaborate and provide a united defense against these growing cyberattacks. ITSEF provides such a forum.”

According to Rankin, account takeover can jeopardize public security, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property. Even infrastructures are under attack as highlighted by President Obama when he signed an Executive Order in February on ‘Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity.’ The Order urges that the United States’ critical infrastructure meet the standards and procedures necessary to address cyber risks.

The ThreatMetrix™ Cybercrime Defender Platform integrates advanced device identification and malware detection technologies that can detect a wide variety of situations that put user accounts at risk including:

  •     Logins using stolen credentials: Detect unusual devices for existing users, logins disguising their true attributes, and multiple accounts using a single device.
  •     Botnets automating password guessing: Detect high velocity of password attempts, unusual packet fingerprints, known botnet participation, and other red flags.
  •     Credential replay attacks or session hijacks: Detect when a device changes between a login and a transaction, or when cookies are copied between devices.
  •     Malware targeting logins: Detect evidence of malware on a legitimate user’s login session.

ThreatMetrix’s leading cybercrime platform protects more than 1,500 customers and 8,500 websites from account takeover, payment fraud and fraudulent new registrations in markets including e-commerce, financial services, social networking, government, insurance and enterprise.
