Healthcare staffing continued its torrid hiring pace in February by adding 32,000 new jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Ambulatory health care services jobs increased by 14,000 over the month while hospitals and nursing and residential care facilities gained 9,000 jobs per category. Healthcare staffing has been averaging roughly 30,000 new jobs per month for the past year, many registered nurse jobs. Over two-thirds of the health care employment gains within this time frame occurred in ambulatory health care services.
In related news, Career Builder and Economic Modeling Specialists International, an employment and economic analysis firm, released their “list of occupations that are getting hired as temporary workers at an accelerated rate” with Registered Nurses reaching the number 5 position. There are 66,844 total temporary registered nurse jobs in the nation with 8,766 added from 2010 to 2012 resulting in a 15 percent growth rate. Nursing and home health aides followed registered nurses in the 6th and 7th positions earning 19 % and 21% growth respectively.
