“Too often we read about big box, large backup tape management companies losing their clients’ backup tapes. Our experts not only testify to the way we handle the physical media, but the logical data as well"

When it comes to storing data, many companies utilize a tape backup system that stores critical information, including email, shared drives, departmental folders and crucial compliance documents. Information from company servers is stored onto backup tapes in the event of a disaster (fire, flood, etc.), business continuity or disk failure. Single backup tapes can hold anywhere from gigabytes to terabytes and are critical in ensuring business continuity. Is your company utilizing backup tape and if so, are they kept in a secure location?

“Too often we read about big box, large backup tape management companies losing their clients’ backup tapes. From large financial institutions to military and most recently government agencies, these backup tape storage companies have put their clients’ data at risk. Understanding our experts not only testify to the way we handle the physical media, but the logical data as well, which keeps our clients’ tapes and data safe under strict management, putting them and their teams at ease.” – Dean Felicetti – Co-Founder and Partner of The Oliver Group.

TOG’s media vault is temperature and humidity controlled as well as fire resistive. TOG ensures security through added measures like intrusion detection, camera/video surveillance and fire detection. Entry to the media vault is tightly controlled with only select personnel having access via key card and entrance code. Upon receipt of media, TOG ensures security and integrity of clients’ data by physically inspecting media, creating a catalog of the shipment’s contents and recording any documentation or details included within the shipment (bag and tag). This documentation (also called chain-of-custody) is provided to the client and the process is defensible and can be testified to. TOG also manages safe transportation of client media in locked transport containers designed for secure media handling to and from the premises by bonded/insured and if required, armed couriers.
