“If anyone understands the capabilities and limitations of a hidden camera, we do,”
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 18, 2013
If you’re one of the 9 million people who laughed at the disguised Jeff Gordon test driving a Camaro, the joke is on you.
The Pepsi Max promotional video was staged – a slickly produced hoax that generated a lot of buzz on the web.
“If anyone understands the capabilities and limitations of a hidden camera, we do,” said Todd Morris, BrickHouse’s founder and CEO. “We thought it would be fun to create a video that pointed out some of the inconsistencies in the spot.”
BrickHouse Security is the country’s #1 online seller of hidden cameras, and widely recognized as the go-to expert in surveillance and security solutions for consumers, law enforcement and businesses of all sizes.
The company sells a wide range of spy cameras in literally hundreds of form factors, including the concealable hidden camera used to make the “can cam” and the spy glasses camera featured in the Pepsi video.
“The salesman was an actor. Jeff Gordon wasn’t driving most of the time. And the hidden cameras in the car could not have taken many of the shots in the video,” Morris added.
How did these security geniuses take this humorous video apart?
The surveillance experts at BrickHouse broke down the spot and analyzed it shot by shot. Then they created their own pop up video deconstructing the many technical impossibilities and clearly staged stunts.
The BrickHouse video takes nothing away from the humor of the Pepsi spot – those who haven’t seen it yet, should watch it. It’s very funny. But it does demonstrate that people have to work a little harder to pass off a phony video, because the world is always watching.
“This video is all in fun,” said Morris. “But there is a serious side. We believe in the truth. And people who stretch the truth invariably get themselves in trouble.”
