Halco has received a 2012 Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Century Club Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. This is the third year in a row that Halco has been honored with this prestigious award.
According to NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research & Development Authority), which administers the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR, Halco completed 361 energy saving home performance projects. This was the highest number in the state.
The Century Club Award recognizes Halco for using a whole-house approach to improve the energy performance of more than 100 homes as part of the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program. Halco’s comprehensive, whole house approach improves energy efficiency and comfort, saves homeowners money on utility bills and helps to protect the environment.
“Halco is committed to the home performance process,” says President Hal Smith. “We want to provide our customers with the best possible value. The home performance process allows us to diagnose the cause of energy waste, rather than just treat the symptoms.”
As a participating contractor in NYSERDA’s program, Halco received specialized training and is equipped with high-tech diagnostic tools to inspect homes and determine where improvements are needed. Rather than focusing on a single problem, like an old heating or cooling system, not enough insulation in the attic, or leaky windows, Halco looks at how improvements throughout a home can work together to give homeowners the best results. Depending on the improvements selected by the homeowner, annual utility bill savings of 20 percent or more are possible.
Halco was established in 1984. Today, the Phelps-based company’s service area stretches from Rochester to Utica and from Lake Ontario to the Pennsylvania border.
