Friendship is a powerful tool to unite individuals - classmates, families, and communities, in the name of peace.
Dubai (PRWEB) March 16, 2013
Skoolbo, Microsoft and Peace One Day today announced Friend Our World at the Global Education and Skills Forum (GESF), Dubai, UAE.
Friend Our World will open from Sunday 1 September, 2013 and will run as a festival in the lead-up to International Day of Peace on 21 September.
Jeremy Gilley, Peace One Day founder, said: "Friendship is a powerful tool to unite individuals - classmates, families, and communities, in the name of peace on Peace Day 21 September. This is why I'm delighted to announce this new initiative with Skoolbo. This will be an online learning hub for millions of young people. They can exchange ideas, learn about global citizenship, and come together around the theme “Who Will You Make Peace With?”. Friend Our World will enable young people to form friendships and play games together, breaking down barriers and spreading the message of Peace Day around the world. I urge everyone to get involved.”
Upon announcing Friend Our World at GESF, Shane Hill, Skoolbo founder, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Peace One Day and Microsoft in this incredibly worthwhile initiative. Skoolbo’s dream is to solve literacy and there is a well-established connection between a more literate world and a more peaceful world. One of the aspects of Friend Our World that we are particularly excited about is that children will be able to participate in more than 30 languages.”
