Explore Tibet, a Lhasa-based Tibet tour company, is currently promoting Tibet group tour to Holy Mt. Gongga in eastern Tibet. They offer a 12-day hiking trip, including a photography tour.

“Mt. Gongga is one of the holiest mountains in Tibet, and embarking a pilgrimage is a lifetime dream for many Tibetans,” Explore Tibet have said. “The Minyag Tibetans who live there are a distinct linguistic and cultural sub-group within the Tibetan nationality. They are similar to other Tibetans in that they follow the tenets of Tibetan Buddhism, and live in dispersed agricultural communities growing barley and raising yak.

“The Everest trekking package tour offers great experience of Minyag Tibetan culture and intensive natural beauties in the shadow of Mt. Gongga.”

Mount Gongga, also known in Tibetan as Minya Konka, is the highest mountain in Sichuan province, China. Rising to 7,000m, the mountain is Asia’s highest peak outside the Himalayas, with 20 peaks over 6,000 metres and over 40 glaciers.

The tour also visits the Tibetan town of Kanding, at the edge of the Tibetan plateau.

“This bustling crossroad city will offer the first glimpse of a traditional Tibetan community and act as a welcome respite for the Tibet plateau,” Explore Tibet have said.

Visitors will stay with a local Tibetan family.
