The new integrated modular work station unit is descriptively named the Dual Stage Work Station (DSWS). The Work Platform structure is comprised of two main working decks-the upper deck and the lower deck-and two trolley systems for hydraulically moving the platform from well to well and for adapting multiple service equipment modules required in P&A operations.
The total DSWS system is compact, modular, can be easily integrated into specific packages as needed, and is operated by one man in an automated control cabin. All discrete modular systems are controlled and operated by one main HPU (hydraulic power unit) which has redundancy. All components of the system have redundancy for reliability and inclusion as a backup. Another feature employed in the system is a series of remote cameras for safe operations and observation of the work modules which are continuously monitored by the Control Operator in the control cabin.
The modules consist of a PS120 Power Swivel assembly, a power tong & adapter, tong jib pole, dual drill pin stand, diamond wire saw module, and integrated 300/500 ton casing jacks with bowls and slips. These modules can be integrated on an as needed basis depending upon the required equipment needed for the P&A/decommissioning operation.
The System was engineered and built for “Fit-For Purpose” utilization in the P&A/Decom process with emphasis on a safety, automation, economics, and ease of use (modular design). The benefits from this System are numerous: eliminates multiple HPU’s, small footprint, lightweight, hands- free operation (safety), reduces POB, hydraulic skidding system, weather enclosed two-man control cabin (w/AC & heat), ease of R/U & R/D, eliminates multiple mobilizations of equipment and personnel, one total integrated system(reduces costs) and with all system redundancies.
