Having quality night vision devices and training will increase the situational awareness, survivability, and operational capabilities for law enforcement officers, making the Washington, DC area that they serve, much more safe and secure.
Washington, DC (PRWEB) March 19, 2013
Telluric Group, the Night Vision tactical training partner of Morovision Night Vision, recently trained over 200 Law Enforcement Officers in the Washington, DC area. Most of the training was funded through a UASI (Urban Area Security Initiative) grant from the Department of Homeland Security. The multi-million dollar UASI Grant provided funds for equipment and training for a multi-jurisdictional agency-wide effort within the greater DC area.
The three day Night Vision Operator Course offered by Telluric Group focuses on no light/low light operations – a statistically highly concentrated time for crime, shootings, and increased danger. Those who attended the course learned the foundational knowledge, skills, and tactics needed for the safe, effective use of night vision devices for law enforcement applications. A federal officer who attended the course stated, “I enjoyed the training and learned some useful tactics, techniques and procedures to bring back to my counter-assault unit.”
“To see funding going toward night vision related training and equipment is gratifying because it shows the significance that these agencies place on no light/low light scenarios that their officers often encounter. The effective use of night vision devices are extremely important– allowing law enforcement officers to see and provide a tactical advantage when surrounded by darkness,” says Spiro Demetriadi, Director of Sales and Marketing at Morovision. Demetriadi continues, “Having quality night vision devices and training will increase the situational awareness, survivability, and operational capabilities for law enforcement officers, making the Washington, DC area that they serve, much more safe and secure.”
Telluric Group Group’s next training date is at their home base, a custom-built night vision training facility in Brunswick, GA, a short distance from FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center). The course is scheduled for April 23-25, 2013 and is restricted to Military and Law Enforcement personnel. Telluric Group is also offering courses in Los Angeles, CA (hosted by the US Marshals Service), Arlington, TX (hosted by Arlington Police Department), and pending locations in Florida and New Hampshire. Class registration and host coordination will be handled by Morovision Night Vision.
