Wi Vid Wireless Video Cameras a worldwide supplier of wireless video transmitters and receivers has just released its latest ultra-small COFDM Transmitter. The new WVC-SD Mini TX is credit card size and approx. one inch thick. Weight is only 168 grams and is available in frequency ranges from 300Mhz to 6Ghz. The WVC-SD Mini TX uses COFDM (coded-orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexing) technology to provide a flicker-free crystal clear video signal to completely overcome multipath effects. Unlike most wireless video systems on the market transmitting only a single carrier, COFDM divides a single digital signal into 1000’s of carrier signals simultaneously. This provides for excellent range and distance for mobile cameras, UAV (unmanned-aerial-vehicles) and body worn cameras. The system is available in two video compression options H.264 and JPEG2000. The H.264 video compression is idea for long range and non-line-of-sight applications where an ultra-narrow 1Mhz bandwidth provides -105db receiver sensitivity which is one of the best on the market.
Video delay or latency is an issue with many wireless video solutions. The WVC-SD Min TX system provides less than 200ms latency for the H.264 video compression option and less than 80ms latency for our JPEG2000 video compression option which is undetected by the human eye. This makes the JPEG2000 option with 8Mhz bandwidth an ideal choice for robotics or the broadcast industry use where real-time video is required.
The WVC-SD Mini TX system comes complete with Transmitter, True Diversity Receiver and antennas. The transmitter has a power range of 8-24VDC (550mA @ 12VDC) and the receiver’s power range is 8-16VDC (600mA @ 12VDC). Optional high gain antennas can be used for the receiver and/or an optional external power amplifier for the transmitter to increase range. Pricing for the complete system is under $6000 USD.
