Receiving the Five-Star Quality Rating tells families' that we're committed to the highest quality of care and support for our residents and their families.
Braintree MA (PRWEB) March 21, 2013
Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group announces 5-Star Quality Rating for three rehabilitation and nursing centers owned or managed by the Massachusetts based company. The overall 5-Star Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) was created to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily. Nursing homes receiving five stars, the highest quality rating, were evaluated in each of the following three areas: health inspections, staffing and quality measures.
For the third year in a row, Duxbury House Alzheimer’s Care Center in Duxbury, a specialized 23-bed Alzheimer’s and memory care center, received the overall 5-Star Quality Rating . “Receiving the Five-Star Quality Rating for the third time in a row tells families that Duxbury House and its staff are committed to the highest quality of care and support for our residents and their families,” says Michael Cosgrove, administrator of Duxbury House Alzheimer’s Care Center. “The Duxbury House staff deserves credit for the continued focus on quality in all areas of care and service,” he adds.
Also for the third year in a row, Hancock Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Quincy, a 142-bed rehabilitation and skilled nursing center, received an overall 5-Star Quality Rating. “A 5-Star rating from CMS tells families that Hancock Park has earned the highest possible distinction on quality in all areas of care and service,” says Richard Coughlin, administrator of Hancock Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. “In addition the staff of Hancock Park also takes great pride in the recognition of families’ expressing their appreciation for the attention to quality care provided to their loved ones,” he adds.
Mayflower Place Nursing Center in West Yarmouth, a Welch Healthcare & Retirement Group managed facility, also received a 5-Star Quality Rating. The 72-bed rehabilitation and skilled nursing center has scored a 5-star rating for the third year in a row.
To attain a 5-Star Quality Rating, Duxbury House, Hancock Park and Mayflower Place, each had a successful 2012 state survey by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH). The regulations for skilled nursing facilities require each facility to be carefully surveyed and evaluated by the DPH on areas such as safety, quality of care, patient rights, food service, administration and nursing care.
The Nursing Home Compare website, the official U.S. government site for Medicare, operates a quality rating system for nursing homes nationwide, giving each nursing home a rating of between 1 and 5 stars. Nursing homes with 5-stars are considered to have much above average quality. One overall 5-star rating is assigned to the nursing center, as well as a separate rating for each of the following three areas: health inspections, staffing, and quality measures.
