No More Poverty

Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) March 27, 2013

The Smart & Final Charitable Foundation has joined with No More Poverty and its co-founders Julian Omidi and Michael Omidi, M.D. to provide a generous grant to the charity Love in the Mirror. The charity’s co-founder Jonas Corona used the funds to buy new shoes to more than 50 homeless kids at the Children Today organization.

“We are thrilled to be able to work with these charities and their impassioned founders. You just can’t find more caring and giving people than Jonas Corona of Love in the Mirror and Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi of No More Poverty,” says Randall Oliver, Smart & Final’s Director of Corporate Communications. “And then to be able to make such a big difference for Children Today and the young people they serve. This one was an absolute win-win for everyone!”

“Shoes are something most of us don’t think much about. Some people have multiple pairs in their closet,” says Dora Jacildo, Executive Director of Children Today. “That is definitely not the case with our kids. These 50 pairs of shoes were met with tremendous joy and thankfulness. This donation is very much appreciated.”

Love in the Mirror (http://www.loveinthemirror.org) helps homeless children obtain not only the food, clothing and school supplies they need in everyday life, but also provides programs to empower children to succeed in their future endeavors, and hopefully make a difference in this world. It was founded by Jonas Corona when he was just six years old, after spending afternoons with his mother and aunt helping out at a local homeless shelter.

No More Poverty (http://www.nmp.org) is a not-for-profit charity organization (with a pending 501(c)3 application) founded by brothers Michael Omidi, M.D. and Julian Omidi. The organization seeks to end poverty at home and abroad by supporting the efforts of like-minded charities and agencies. Current efforts are focused on increasing awareness of and donations to charities already doing great work to address poverty and its staggering effects throughout the world. The plan is to expand our activities to include fostering business development and job creation in disenfranchised areas. Suggestions for worthy partners in the fight for No More Poverty are welcome. No More Poverty does not accept monetary support, but instead encourages direct donations to the charities featured on the organization’s website. Children Today (http://www.childrentoday.org) was founded by working mothers Theresa Bixby and Jennifer Fitzgerald- after they saw an infant wandering along a street in Long Beach, California with no parent in sight. The organization advocates for the needs of children in a system that typically sees homelessness as an adult problem. The goal of Children Today is simple – to increase the safety, stability and confidence of children facing homelessness and provide quality early care and education programs absolutely free of charge.
