Dogs are more than just our pets – they’re family, but they’re also a financial responsibility. Our dream is to help as many families as possible to make sure they can stay together and their dogs can be healthy and happy.

Duxbury, MA (PRWEB) March 28, 2013

Fairy DogParents, a nonprofit organization that helps prevent Massachusetts dog owners from surrendering their dogs to shelters due to financial hardship, today announced that it has saved and recently sponsored its 500th dog, Thalia, from being surrendered to a local animal shelter. Today the organization celebrates its fourth anniversary and is hoping to save another 400 dogs in 2013.

“We are so happy today to celebrate our fourth anniversary by announcing the sponsor of our 500th dog, Thalia, to help her owner afford an emergency operation,” said Marlo Manning, founder of Fairy DogParents. “Dogs are more than just our pets – they’re family, but they’re also a financial responsibility. Our dream is to help as many families as possible to make sure they can stay together and their dogs can be healthy and happy.”

Founded in 2009 by dog lover Marlo Manning, Fairy DogParents sponsors food, vaccinations, prescriptions and minor procedures for dogs. The organization helps a wide range of owners keep their dogs within the family by covering general wellness and monthly food costs up to $300, and acute and chronic medical care needs are covered up to $800. The organization was created shortly after Manning’s former rescue dog Ladybug lost her struggle against various illnesses and cancer. Though Manning was fortunate enough to be able to afford Ladybug’s medical care, many families who have recently fallen on hard times are often faced with the difficult decision to surrender the dog to a shelter due to high costs and a tighter budget. If the cost of the procedure exceeds the outlined budgets, the organization relies on donor money to help pay for the rest.

Fairy DogParents is 100% dependent on outside donations. Those looking to sponsor a dog are welcome to send in donations in the form of money, dog food and office supplies. Fairy DogParents does not discriminate against any dog breeds. For more information on the nonprofit and ways to donate, please visit: http://www.fairydogparents.org.
