Candy buffets at weddings are certainly in vogue, but to offer sweet treats at the reception simply by virtue of following a trend could leave one's guests unfulfilled.

Following a blog post that appeared on the Kiss My Tulle website, Do the Bride a Favor recommends tips for getting the most bang from one's wedding candy buck.

First, when buying custom wedding chocolates, or bulk chocolate of any kind for a summer wedding, do so months in advance of June, and store in a freezer for the big day. Candy sellers charge a premium for shipping in summer due to concerns about the chocolate melting.

Secondly, buy one's wedding candy online as this is the place where you will find the best deals. Be sure there is plenty of replacement candy on hand should one's display become depleted early on in the reception festivities.

Lastly, form follows function when presenting candy to guests. Trying to match wedding theme colors with offbeat and untried candy brands could leave taste severely lacking. Always buy name brand candy and get creative in the display. When using glass apothecary jars, consider filling them with wrapped candy so guests can serve themselves, foregoing unwieldy scoops. If scoops are used, be sure a qualified attendant is on hand for efficiency and portion control.

Having candy on hand at one's reception is a sure-fire way to please wedding guests, but as with every other aspect of the celebration, candy buffets require proper planning in order to make a positive impression.
