Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) March 29, 2013

On March 29, 2013, Rapid Recovery Solution releases a statement following a This Week News article by Michael Hayes regarding the news of Ohio city Pickerington requesting help from the state in order to collect on overdue tax accounts.

According to the This Week News article, income tax collections were down by 17 percent in the Ohio city, and city finance director Chris Schornack suggested enlisting help from the state in order to claim on the back taxes. The Pickerington City Council finance committee voted on the issue, and approved a debt-collection agreement with the Ohio attorney general’s office.

The article goes on to mention that those who owe back taxes to the city might also lose any refunds they would be receiving on their state income taxes. The new deal made with the Ohio attorney general’s office allows the city of Pickerington to apply a person’s state tax refund toward any delinquent city taxes that person may owe.

Hayes said, “Schornack said delinquent taxpayers would first be notified by letter that their debts are on file before the Attorney General's Office commences the collection process. He said collections could start in April if council approves the agreement.”

The article also mentions April as a key month for collections, and will give the city a good perspective on how well annual collections go.

John Monderine, CEO of accounts receivable collection experts, Rapid Recovery Solution, commented on the current situation in Ohio. “Pickerington choosing to go to the state for help is a smart move. With Ohio backing the city, it will be easier for them to collect on debts. In the end, if a city ends up struggling financially, it only reflects on the state, which is why Ohio was probably more than willing to get involved.”
