On April 5, Estelle Schlossberg, owner of Estelle’s Dressy Dresses, comments on an article published in Seventeen Magazine, which recommends items to bring to prom to prevent fashion emergencies.

According to Seventeen Magazine, prom is a night of fun and dancing, but the last thing someone needs is a wardrobe malfunction that could ruin the entire night. Instead, girls should consider making their own fashion emergency kit, complete with all the necessary items that could save you from a fashion meltdown.

Estelle Schlossberg, owner of Estelle’s Dressy Dresses, a popular destination for Long Island prom dresses, says having a perfect prom night is something most teenage girls desire. “It’s the one night of your life, before your wedding, where you get to dress like a princess and just have fun,” she says. “However, you also don’t want something to ruin your night, like a wardrobe malfunction. A girl should always be prepared.”

Seventeen Magazine advises teenage girls attending prom to pack deodorant removing sponges, oil blotting sheets, safety pins, roll-up ballet flats and fashion tape inside their fashion emergency kit.

“Prom night is full of dancing,” Schlossberg says. “Wearing heels all night can be tiring and painful. Roll-up flats by Dr. Scholl’s or Ballasox are great in a pinch. You won’t have to go barefoot and you’ll still look chic. Fashion tape is necessary for revealing dresses or ones that show a lot of skin. It helps to keep your gown in place all night.”

In case of an accident during dinner, Schlossberg says carrying a Tide-To-Go pen could also help take out stains in certain dresses. “Some dresses are made from satin or silk, so they might be dry clean only,” she says. “However, detergent pens could be gently used on chiffon and other materials which will help keep stains from setting and putting a damper on the night.”
