VT MÄK (MÄK), a company of VT Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), today announced the launch of VR-Link for Unity, a DIS/HLA module for the Unity Game Engine. This new product allows users to bring Unity-based games into existing distribution simulation environments using standard Modeling & Simulation protocols.
Through VR-Link for Unity, a role player or trainee can interact and engage with entities modeled by external simulations, including computer-generated forces. VR-Link for Unity handles dead-reckoning and smoothing of entity positions, conversion from Unity’s local coordinate system to geocentric world coordinates, movement of articulated parts, and embarkation of Unity entities on remotely simulated vehicles.
The Unity game engine is used to develop video games for desktop platforms, mobile devices, web applications, and consoles. Its run-time engine is integrated with a complete set of intuitive tools providing rapid workflows and enabling interactive 3D content. Unity is known for its easy multiplatform publishing, asset store, and knowledge-sharing community.
MÄK has been a leader in simulation interoperability for over two decades. VR-Link for Unity is based on the company’s flagship simulation networking toolkit, VR-Link, which allows applications to natively support all versions of the DIS and HLA standards through a single, protocol-independent interface. The release of VR-Link for Unity follows a period of open beta testing with a group of early adopters. Their feedback has helped shape the product for this release.
