SoundOfMotion Technologies Inc., the creator of 1° Precision VeloComputer Bluetooth Smart Sensor, releases a Software Developer Kit (SDK) allowing developers to create innovative applications and devices using this high precision wheel sensing technology.

The sensor is equipped with 3D magnetometer and accelerometer. The 3 axis magnetometer is used to detect a magnetic field direction from a magnet on a wheel with 1° precision of a wheel revolution. This translates into 1 centimeter (1/2 inch) precision of a distance. The 3 axis accelerometer detects gravity forces which can be used to calculate slope grade, G-forces and detect a fall. The sensor transmits these data wirelessly via Bluetooth 4.0 low energy technology to a host application.

Any device with Bluetooth 4.0 such as iPhone, Android, Blackberry or Windows mobile phone, tablet or a computer would be able to acquire precise motion data from the VeloComputer Bluetooth Smart sensor.

The 1° precision sensor was originally designed for track cycling where high precision is a must. Cyclists routinely rely on computers to determine their speed and cadence. Traditional cycling computers measure only a full revolution of a wheel and calculate average speed over 3 to 5 revolutions or about 6-10 meters of distance. SoundOfMotion's patent pending technology is capable of detecting as little as 1° of a wheel rotation.

This high precision data can be used to accurately calculate spot speed, acceleration, cadence, torque and power on the wheel. The VeloComputer Smart Sensor is 360 times more accurate than traditional cycling sensors and almost 2000 times better than GPS.

The SDK includes one VeloComputer Smart Sensor developer edition enabled with over-the-air firmware updates, SDK documentation with code examples and 1 year of developer code level support.
