The hiring of nanny teachers, who live with a family and teach the children, is on the rise as the global economy improves.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 02, 2013

Educators Overseas, the number one online international teacher recruiting organization in the United States, announced that nearly twice as many families this year are seeking personal live-in tutors for their children, a testimony to economic improvement and increasing value placed on education.

Since the placement of their first teacher in 2007 Educators Overseas has doubled year on year teacher placements in their teach abroad and teach in China programs but this is the first year they’ve seen a similar increase in the hiring of nanny teachers as well. Those families who can afford to pay teachers a full time salary are recognizing the obvious benefits in hiring a tutor to teach their children one-on-one rather than in a classroom where they can’t possibly get the same level of academic attention.

Live-in nanny teachers are certified and qualified teachers that live with a family and serve as the children’s sole educator, similar to a home school teacher, but on a much higher level professionally and academically, with structured school hours and academics. Educators Overseas uses the term “live in nanny teacher”, rather than live in tutor or "international tutor", as the term tutor is synonymous with simple homework help rather than the responsibility of the entire curriculum of the children. To that end, most families seek private tutors who are also willing serve in the capacity of a nanny to the children or a personal assistant to the family, including field trips or other activities that relate to the child's care. Grimste describes the typical live in nanny teacher situation as “a great opportunity for teachers, with full time salary and often separate living quarters for the teacher, as well as a lot of time off.” Although most families want someone who will consider remaining with them for the long term, some families entertain shorter contracts, which can be especially appealing to younger teachers who may not want to devote their life to one family and one location.

When asked why parents are hiring live in teachers, Christy Grimste, Director of Educators Overseas explains it this way: “Basically, private international tutors are hired for the simple reason of providing one's children with the exceptional education of one-on-one instruction in an 100% English speaking environment and Western curriculum.” Families that travel a lot or live overseas in a remote location without access to adequate schools will often employ the services of a nanny teacher (also called a live-in tutor) for their children. Or parents of children with special educational needs will hire a nanny teacher to enable their child to have the very best education possible, despite their challenges.
