On April 8, Natalie Sexenian, the marketing manager for organic olive oil producer Bellucci Premium, responds to an article published by Bloomberg, distinguishing the link between high blood pressure and energy drinks.
According to Bloomberg, a new study conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found that energy drinks could raise blood pressure and increase the risk for an erratic heartbeat. The FDA and other regulators analyzed seven previous studies showing that energy drinks have the ability to disrupt the natural rhythm of the heart. Over time, a constant disturbance could lead to high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat or death, reports Bloomberg.
Sexenian says high blood pressure could cause heart disease as well. “Heart disease is the leading cause of death in men and women in the U.S.,” she says. “It’s imperative to maintain a lifestyle that keeps your heart healthy if you want to live longer. While indulging in these drinks from time to time might be ok, they still have the ability to cause problems down the line.”
However, Sexenian says there are ways to keep your heart healthy. One way is consuming more organic olive oil. “Organic extra virgin olive oil is high in oleic acid and monounsaturated fatty acids,” she says. “These acids are essential to cell regulation and heart health. They lower cholesterol and keep blood pressure at a natural level. Extra virgin olive oil can actually reduce your risk for heart disease. All you have to do is consume at least two tablespoons a day.”
Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, that offers a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. The third type of oil Bellucci offers is the world’s finest Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown only by Italian growers in many different regions of Italy.
