El Pinto New Mexican Restaurant and Salsa Company in Albuquerque New Mexico has achieved Level 2 Safe Quality Food (SQF) Certification for the hot fill factory producing salsa, red chile, and green chile products. SQF Certification is the most rigorous in the food business as an overarching best practices standard encompassing ISO 9000, Hazard Analysis, Critical Control Points and other processes into one all encompassing certification. The SQF Certification will make El Pinto's fully automated hot fill factory attractive for co-packing partnerships.

“SQF Certification documents El Pinto manufacturing is of the highest quality and opens the doors for El Pinto Foods to do work with national firms in hot fill manufacturing,” said Salsa Twin John Thomas, El Pinto co-owner. Twin brother Jim Thomas explains, “We went after SQF for the quality and safety the standard brings to El Pinto products, yet we know the SQF certification is something that makes us stand apart from others when national brands are looking for co-packing partners.”

The salsa factory is a 8,500 sq foot facility built from the ground by John and Jim Thomas and a team of expert engineers. Producing over 2 million jars and over 500,000 single serving cups annually, it has the capability to produce 24,000 jars per working shift. The hot fill processing methods utilize various innovative processing techniques to maintain the signature flavor of all natural El Pinto salsa with fire-roasted green chile that has been the favorite of locals and tourists alike since 1962.

El Pinto Restaurant and Salsa Co. continues to expand in its 51st year.
