Darrin Clawson, founder and CEO of Engage Mobile, the Kansas City based innovator of mobile strategy, mobile development and mobile marketing solutions, has been chosen by Google Inc., the Mountain View, CA technology company, to take part in the Google Glass beta test program, #glassexplorers.

Google Glass is a wearable computer with a head-mounted display (HMD) that is being developed by Google in the Project Glass research and development project. Google Glass displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format that can interact with the Internet via natural language voice commands.

Darrin Clawson, the founder and CEO of Engage Mobile was chosen by Google based upon his software concepts related to the medical industry. Clawson, a 12-year veteran at the medical software company Cerner Corp, proposed using Google Glass to help patients and doctors monitor personal medical devices like insulin pumps, supplemental oxygen, pedometers and heart rate monitors.

Clawson, a pioneer in mobile hardware and software was thrilled to be a part of the program, “Google Glass represents the next phase of wearable computing. Our team at Engage Mobile is prepared to develop next generation software to support Google Glass and other wearable computing devices across multiple industries including healthcare.”

Google has chosen an exclusive group of innovators, like Engage Mobile, to help them beta test Google Glass and develop software for the device. Clawson and Engage Mobile will join a select group of people including Newt Gengrich, Neil Patrick Harris and the Google team including Larry Page and Sergey Brin to get the product ready for launch in 2014.
