Big data touches nearly every industry and is becoming the backbone of innovation. But it's still a young market with new opportunities everywhere.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 04, 2013
Emcien Corp. announced today that Radhika Subramanian, CEO, Emcien, will join Derrick Harris, Senior Writer, GigaOM, to discuss Big Data’s challenges and opportunities during International Big Data Week on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 7p.m., to be held at Georgia Technology Research Institute. GigaOM is also partnering with Big Data Week Atlanta as a prominent media partner to evangelize this week of thought leadership around an emerging hot topic.
“Big data touches nearly every industry and is becoming the backbone of innovation. But it's still a young market with new opportunities everywhere,” says Derrick Harris, Senior Writer, GigaOM. “Turning that data into useful, actionable information is the challenge for companies that are sitting on mountains of data, but it may also be the key to their success."
Harris will lead an evening of discussion about the business possibilities that the Big Data revolution presents. This discussion is part of a larger pool of roughly 20 independently hosted events that celebrate Big Data’s force locally and internationally. Big Data Week 2013 Atlanta runs from April 22-28, 2013, and is hosted in partnership with Emcien Corp., an Atlanta based pioneer in automatic pattern detection for Big Data.
“I recently attended GigaOM’s Structure:Data conference and am excited that GigaOM is noticing Atlanta as a hub for Big Data,” said Radhika Subramanian, CEO, Emcien, of the partnership. “GigaOM is one of the publications that strives to understand the tipping point of technology movements, and Derrick does a good job in his writing of sorting hype from the helpful. We’re pleased to have him in Atlanta participating in Big Data Week and sharing his observations with our technology community.”
There are currently 20 events in Atlanta during Big Data Week, which are added regularly by independent hosts – most are free to attend. To register for these events, visit bigdataweek.com/atlanta. Atlantans are also encouraged to blog or tweet about the week’s happenings (hashtags are #bdw13 and #bdw13ATL).
