Mumford & Sons 25-date North American tour kicks off in Calgary on May 21, goes coast-to-coast and wraps in St. Augustine, Florida in mid September.

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) April 05, 2013

Tickets were released today to the North American leg of Mumford & Sons Babel Tour.

Contrary to the title of their top single “I Will Wait”, ticket sales immediately took off at a high volume pace, said Felina Martinez at ticket marketplace BuyAnySeat.com.

The band, after all, is fresh off their recent two Grammy Award wins: one for Babel, Album of the Year; the other for Big Easy Express for Best Long Form Music Video. They were also named Best British Group at the 2013 Brit Awards.

The English folk rockers are currently wrapping their sold out European swing, performing at the Sporthalle in Hamburg last night. They travel on to Copenhagen and Stockholm with a final concert in Oslo on April 11, 2013.

Mumford & Sons upcoming North American trek is currently set for 25 dates and includes a headlining spot at the Bonnaroo Music Festival and a final string of Gentlemen Of the Road shows.

After opening at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary on May 21, the tour heads for Edmonton, Alberta and Surrey, British Columbia.

The trek rolls on to George, Washington; Portland, Oregon: Berkeley (three concerts), San Bernardino, and Chula Vista, California; Phoenix, Arizona; Taos, New Mexico; Austin (two concerts), Dallas, and The Woodlands, Texas; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Manchester, Tennessee for Bonnaroo.

Final dates include Bonner Springs, Kansas; Telluride, Colorado; Montreal, Quebec; Simco, Ontario; Troy, Ohio and Guthrie, Oklahoma. The wrap is slated for a double-header at Francis Field in St. Augustine, Florida on September 13 and 14, 2013.

Formed in 2007, Mumford & Sons is a four-piece English folk rock band. Members include Marcus Mumford on vocals, guitar, drums, and mandolin; Ben Lovett on vocals, keyboards, accordion, and drums; "Country" Winston Marshall on vocals, banjo, dobro, and guitar; and Ted Dwane, also on vocals, string bass, drums, and guitar.

Emerging out of the West London folk scene, the band’s debut album, Sigh No More, was released in the U.K. and Ireland in October 2009. It reached Number One in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand and peaked at Number Two on the U.K. Album Chart and the Billboard 200 in the U.S. The album sold more than one million copies in the U.K. alone.

Mumford & Sons popularity skyrocketed throughout 2010. First, they received two Grammy Award nominations. Then the group won the ARIA Music Award for Most Popular International Artist in 2010, and the Brit Award in 2011 for Best British Album. They also were honored with the European Border Breakers Award.

Their second studio album, Babel, was released in September 2012 and debuted at number one in the U.K. and U.S. Billboard 200. It became the fastest selling album of 2012 in the UK, selling over 158,000 copies in its first week. Babel was also the biggest selling debut of any album in 2012 in the U.S., selling 600,000 in its first week, and over a million worldwide.

The band uses bluegrass and folk instrumentation, including banjo, upright bass, mandolin and piano, played with a rhythmic style based in alternative rock and folk. In addition, much of Mumford & Sons' lyrical content has very strong literary influences from Shakespeare to Chretien de Troyes.
