REDWOOD CITY, CA (PRWEB) April 09, 2013
[UBIC North America, Inc., a provider of comprehensive eDiscovery and digital forensics solutions and services for corporations and law firms has announced that their Chief Global Risk Officer & Counsel, Paul Starrett will be speaking in high level discussions on the impact of cutting edge document review in the age of predictive analytics with a panel of leading experts in eDiscovery.
The Distinguished Panel Members are:
Hon. John M. Facciola
U.S. Magistrate Judge, District of Columbia
Jason R. Baron
Director of Litigation, National Archives and Records Administration
Former Co-Chair, Sedona Conference Working Group 1
(Electronic Document Production and Retention)
Jeane A. Thomas
Partner, Crowell & Moring Antitrust Group
Chair, E-Discovery and Information Management Group
Chief Global Risk Officer & Counsel, UBIC, Inc.
The panel will explore the eDiscovery landscape for the year 2012 and the reasons behind it being described as a landmark year in legal industry. During this year it was the first time, federal and state judges published opinions approving lawyers’ use of new forms of software and technology to find responsive documents in huge electronic data repositories. One of the questions being discussed by this expert panel is if the legal profession is actually ready to embrace these new 21st century techniques based on mathematical algorithms. These leaders will address issues such as the willingness of the legal community to embrace the elimination of the armies of young lawyers and contract attorneys now so necessary for large-scale document production. The question of whether these new techniques raise fairness issues in litigation where only one party has access to highly sophisticated software will be debated.
“It is an honor for UBIC to be part of this distinguished panel representing the technology vendor community on one of the hottest topics in eDiscovery industry”, said Naritomo Ikeue, Chief Operating Officer & President, UBIC, North America Inc. “As a provider of cutting-edge solutions and pioneering/ evangelizing new markets, especially in Asia-Pacific, UBIC is always committed to providing cost efficient solutions that are beneficial to our clients and to the society.”
