An improved bevel module is now available from Hypertherm’s ProNest nesting software. The contour bevel module works in concert with Hypertherm’s ProNest nesting software to simplify the process of creating beveled edges during plate cutting applications.
Customers who bevel their parts are able to save a tremendous amount of set up time while improving the quality of their beveled parts. Profile bevel angle information can be created manually within ProNest or directly imported inside a CAD drawing layer, along with profile information stored on other drawing layers, such as bill of materials data.
Multi-pass bevel cuts, bevel cuts requiring angle variation within the same entity, bevel cuts requiring looped corners (to allow for changes in bevel angle between different entities within the same profile) and cutting head unwind requirements are easily controlled.
John Degnan is one such customer using the module. As a manufacturing engineer at Wisconsin’s Universal Acoustic and Emission Technologies, Degnan is tasked with programming bevels. Though his company has been using ProNest nesting software for more than three years, he only recently began using the software’s optional bevel module, also delivering support for Hypertherm’s True Bevel technology.
Universal currently uses the bevel module on a CNC burn table equipped with a bevel cutting head. Degnan says the capabilities of the module are remarkable. “It was always a difficult task to program the machine for beveling. Those days are gone as the bevel module makes bevel programming a walk in the park. We just love it.”
