ADS Sports Eyewear is one of the first companies to offer a new frame design from Wiley-X that accommodates much higher prescriptions in motorcycle sunglasses. This design allows optical labs to mount a flatter prescription lens in motorcycle eyewear, even when the frame has 8-base curve. This allows motorcyclists to wear glasses that fit close to their face and still have a flatter prescription lens that is easier to get acclimated to.
Prescription Motorcycle Sunglasses have historically had to balance two opposing requirements. To effectively keep wind from swirling around the riders eyes these glasses need to have a curve that follows the riders face. But prescription eyewear is easier to get acclimated to when the lens is flatter, and flatter lenses will accommodate higher prescription powers. Two new models from Wiley-X Eyewear feature an 8-base frame design with a modification that holds a 6-base prescription lens. This new design has proven to be the perfect way to balance these conflicting requirements.
The two models that have been adapted to hold the lens in a flatter position are the Wiley-X Echo and Gravity. ADS Sports Eyewear maximizes the effectiveness of this flatter frame by using a new free-form digital lens design that recalculates the prescription at every point on the lens. This prescription design eliminates the fishbowl effect often experienced by riders that purchased prescription motorcycle sunglasses with the traditional surfacing designs. The combination of this new free-form lens surfacing and the Wiley-X frame design is giving motorcyclists much better prescription options than have ever been available.
ADS Sports Eyewear has been selling motorcycle eyewear and sports-specific sunglasses for the past ten years. The company is optician owned and operated, and all product testing is done in-house.
