Medstreaming, a leading developer of medical information technology (IT) solutions, announced the recent addition of Michael Thompson to its management team as chief operating officer. Thompson brings more than 20 years of medical executive expertise to the position. In his new role, Thompson will oversee development and execution of the corporate growth strategy, expand investor relationships and will assist with daily operations.
“We are pleased to have such an experienced healthcare professional join our team,” said Wael Elseaidy, co-founder and CEO for Medstreaming. “Our vision is to enable access to his expertise to support our mission of developing and providing affordable, scaleable medical IT solutions to a wide array of medical domains.”
Prior to joining Medstreaming, Thompson was vice president of ultrasound sales and marketing for Mindray North America. At Mindray he built a direct and distribution sales channel and was responsible for numerous marketing initiatives and product introductions, all of which lead to 16 consecutive quarters of double digit revenue growth. Before this he held the position of director of business development and corporate accounts at ZONARE Medical Systems, a leading developer of ultrasound systems based on software beam formation architecture. At ZONARE, he led a team that was responsible for supporting numerous national accounts and key corporate relationships which included Kaiser Permanente, Health Trust Purchasing Group and the U.S. Federal Government. Thompson has also held various positions in healthcare sales, sales management and product management throughout his 25 year career in healthcare. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a major in finance from the University of Wisconsin.
Medstreaming offers an “All in One” electronic medical record (EMR) and picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) for a multitude of ambulatory clinical applications such as vascular, cardiology, ob/gyn, vein, surgery, interventional radiology, orthopedics, pediatric/pediatric surgery, family care and urgent care, along with many other specialties. Its suite of products includes imaging applications, patient management, practice management with billing and scheduling, as well as consulting services.
“I am pleased to join the dynamic group of medical professionals at Medstreaming,” said Thompson. “The company is known for its comprehensive, intuitive IT solutions which have received robust reviews from our clinical users. This affords the opportunity to support clinicians with highly efficient workflow and informational tools in their goal to provide excellence in patient care.”
Many challenges confront the medical industry due to an extremely fragmented data management structure. To address this fragmentation, Medstreaming introduced “All in One” integrated platform applications that run as outpatient EMR/PACS/PM ambulatory workflow. Medstreaming platform applications (Apps) can also run as a performance layer in the inpatient workflow on top of inpatient EMR. The “All in One” Medstreaming Apps act as aggregators for structuring medical IT information for different specialties, which in turn create a very powerful data service offering for multi-purpose, web-based data mining Apps.
