Forecast of Mobile Data Traffic Increase Affects Cell Towers’ Staying Power/Value

Vertical Consultants reveals how recent findings in a Juniper Research study affects cell tower value.

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) April 11, 2013

Juniper Research released wireless data forecasts on April 10, 2013 that affects not only the staying power of cell towers, but their value as well. According to Juniper Research by 2017, mobile data traffic will exceed 90,000 petabytes—that’s the equivalent of 42 quadrillion tweets or 7 billion Blu-ray movies. It is estimated that nearly half of this traffic will reach cellular networks.

Although wireless providers must supply demand for wireless capacity, these providers need property owners willing to lease their land for cell tower and antenna placement. In addition to site acquisitioning, wireless providers must maintain and secure their current cell sites.

The forecasts in the recent Juniper Report provides how cellular phone towers/antennas’ capacity, value, and negotiations related to their placement and their existing cell tower lease s play a vital role in the amount and quality of wireless data service available to consumers. Many property owners leasing their land for the placement of telecom equipment do not realize how valuable their land is to the telecom industry especially in this era of extreme demand for wireless data.

“With this type of growth in mobile usage, there will be a need to maintain current towers facilitating the demands of wireless consumers in addition to implementing new sites across the country and world,” states Hugh Odom, President and Founder of Vertical Consultants. “Property owners aren’t being paid correctly for telecom companies’ use of their land, and that is where we step in.”

Vertical Consultants, in just two years has already become a catalyst for change in the telecom industry. Increasing cell tower rents by an average of 142%, and recovering over 100 years' worth of cell tower rent and expenses, collectively, is testament to the wide disparities between property owners and telecom companies.

Vertical Consultants, founded in 2010 by Hugh Odom, is comprised of a group of wireless industry veterans with decades of combined experience.
